Cycling Sunglasses Worn by the Pros

Elite athletes always pave the way for what eyewear is worn by us amateurs and hobbyists. If it is good enough for those in the Tour de France, then, of course, it will be more than enough for us to do the Tour de Slough.

With each race seen on tv or in person, there is a wash of different styles and brands. But one brand that dominates each race is Oakley. These are chosen by riders or gifted by big sponsors to the most famous and popular riders. So, without further ado, we have a list of cycling sunglasses worn by the Pros. Spoiler alert! It is dominated by Oakley.

1. Oakley Jawbreaker Sunglasses

Oakley Jawbreakers are worn by many professional cyclists. The reason? They fit the bill perfectly. From the amazing optical experience to the meticulous design. The height of the lens is taller than anticipated. Compared to those large styles that many go for these days, like the Sutro, the lens is surprisingly tall. This is great for seeing the whole road ahead no matter your position.

The curve in the lens allows the frame to sit perfectly on the cheek. Plus, the arms are adjustable to play nicely with your helmet too. This allows the eyewear to sit perfectly on your face without the hassle of them moving.

The lenses are interchangeable and have a great oleophobic treatment. This deflects water expertly and keeps views clear. However, this isn't on the inside annoyingly.

These sunglasses aren't just worn by the pros but also were designed with the aid of one of the best pros ever. Mark Cavendish was brought in to help design the sunglasses. So each part of these sunglasses is created with his expert eye, knowing exactly what a rider needs from the eyewear and what makes them even better to be worn!

2. Oakley Sutro Sunglasses

Oakley Sutro sunglasses are becoming a big hit with the pros. A trend towards larger and taller cycling sunglasses has brought these sunglasses to the forefront.

The large shield lens provides great coverage for wind and sun protection. The large lens is a prizm lens which allows for some of the best optical experiences you could imagine. A big reason why the professionals wear them!

Although more pros are starting to adorn the Sutro, Oakley market and created the product more towards the casual cyclist. In our opinion, these are the best on the list for non-professional cyclists. All with that pro seal of approval.

3. Oakley Flight Jacket

As soon as the flight Jacket hit the market, everyone was excited. These sunglasses changed the way Oakley looked at ventilation. The Flight Jacket then seemed to be on almost every pro riders face.

Oakley looked at how to get as much air in between the lens and the eyes as efficiently and as easily as possible. Voila! The Advancer was born. This toggle fitted on the nose piece allows you to flip the sunglasses up slightly. This allows a flow of air in between the lens and your face and up out the top. This stops fogging very quickly.

In addition, they flipped the semi-rimless look. Instead of the frame being at the top, it is now on the bottom. Not only does this allow for fogging to be a thing of the past, but also opens up the field of view.

Finally, the arms are interchangeable. These are different lengths to allow them to play nicely with y

4. Oakley Radar EV Path Sunglasses

Pros used to wear Radar EV sunglasses a lot. This is less prominent now as sponsors push riders to wear newer pairs. However, those who can and do, wear the Radar EV.

They're a big hit for their wide lens that helps the vision in the peripheral area. A semi-rimless frame is popular to allow better views towards the bottom of the lens.

We would recommend trying these first with a helmet on as the arms are quite long and can interfere.
